Chrisma Jain graduated from the University of Leeds in 2004 with First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering. She is a Chartered Engineer working at Transport for London as a Senior Project Manager. She mobilised and is leading a £220m rail contract to modernise and renew the track and drainage infrastructure on London’s tube.
Chrisma is the chair of FiTE (Females in Transport Engineering), a staff network group within Transport for London that supports over 300 women in their career progression in Engineering. She also represents Transport for London in the UK Railway Decarbonisation Committee which is led by the Permanent Way Institution.
Chrisma is an active member of the Women’s Engineering Society. She has been a Trustee since 2020 and is the chair of the Communications Directors’ Committee. She is also a member of the Events Directors’ Committee and a member of the WES Climate Emergency Group where she is leading the Life on Land SDG15 climate team.
Outside of WES Chrisma is a member of the Council for the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and is an IMechE Chartership assessor. Through lockdown she joined the IMechE Covid-19 Taskforce as a Lead Technical Editor.
Chrisma has been recognised with several awards: She won the Top 100 Rising Star Award in Engineering from We are the City; came Highly Commended in the STEM Trailblazer Award from Baton Awards and was a Finalist in the Best Female Project Manager in 2020 & 2021 in the European WICE Awards.
Apart from work and volunteering Chrisma likes to keep fit and has been a member of her local amateur boxing gym for over 15 years.
