Mamta Singhal holds over 18 years’ experience in design engineering, manufacturing and new product development. A global career in both the toy sector and the food & drink as well achieving strong connections with UK Academic sphere and International Engineering and Tech Institutions. She was elected to WES Fellowship in 2020.
Mamta became an Engineering Visiting Professor at Middlesex University in 2020 and continues to be well connected with the team at Design, Manufacturing and Engineering Management (DMEM), Strathclyde University where she gained her Masters - she returns to give inspiring talks about careers in engineering, product manufacturing and the role that females play in manufacturing, supply chain and engineering.
She is extremely passionate about neurodiversity, mental health and inclusion in engineering and as a tri-national and a dyslexic thinker herself she is a strong believer that race, culture and nationality mustn’t be a barrier to success. If anything she believes it is a positive to have an international background and diverse thinking ability to truly be a well-adjusted engineer and business player.
She is a Chartered Design Engineer by profession having read an affiliated degree in Product Design Engineer at Glasgow University/Glasgow School of Art. She has worked as a Global Design Engineer at Polaroid Ltd, Dyson Ltd and Hasbro Ltd. Later she became an International Quality and Project Engineer for Mattel Inc working across the EU, Russia and the Middle East on toys, baby items and licensed goods with a strong focus on regulations, compliance, quality and safety. Mamta has also worked as a Senior Innovation Scientist and Packaging Project Manager for Mars Chocolate Europe working on sustainability projects, product innovation and streamlining process for brands such as M&M, Galaxy, Snickers and Maltesers. Most recently for Coca-Cola European Partners within their GB Supply Chain. In 2021 she joined the Diageo Global Sustainability Team as a Senior Manager working on packaging solutions.
Mamta founded her own design engineering consultancy in 2007 called Level 16 Ltd while studying for MBA. It was during this time she won the IET WES Young Woman Engineer of the Year and was a finalist for the AMBA Global MBA Student of the Year and the Woman of the Future (WOF) Awards. In 2015 she Won the BDO's British Indian Awards Best in Science & Engineering. As result of winning these awards she become an active campaigner for equality, diversity and inclusion in STEM.
She also the first woman of Indian heritage to reach Council level in the 150 year history of the IET and she sits on the IET UK Thought Leadership Manufacturing Policy Panel.
During her free-time she delivers lectures and inspiring talks to Strathclyde University, York University, Stemettes, AFBE, The IET, WES Scotland, Equate Scotland, Dyslexia Scotland, Foothold, Lexxic, DIAL Global and RAEng. She is also on the Management Today’s Inspiring Woman Advisory Board where she speaks openly and frankly about the issue’s women face in Engineering and Manufacturing.
