As part of the Watts in A Home – Electric Dreams project there is a Historical Walk in Bristol on Saturday 31st May starting at the MShed at 10.30am and again at 2pm.
The tour explores electricity in infrastructure, entertainment and education, walking up to the EAW branch meeting location at the top of Park Street. Highlights include a bascule bridge and a well-connected clock. The walk starts and ends at M Shed, to coincide with the Watts In A Home – Electric Dreams activity day, developed and led by the Women’s Engineering Society with funding from the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Ingenious grant scheme.

What is it? The Watts in A Home – Electric Dreams project, funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering Ingenious Fund, celebrates 100 years of women’s involvement in engineering and electrical power in the home, catalysed by the Electrical Association of Women which was formed in 1924.
Working with our regional clusters, cohorts of women engineers in Bristol, Newcastle, Cardiff, Milton Keynes, Belfast and Glasgow, are developing their public engagement and professional skills to prepare and deliver an electrifying, immersive public event at various visitor attractions around the UK. Watts in A Home – Electric Dreams 2024 celebrates 100 years of women’s involvement in engineering and power in the home, catalysed by the Electrical Association of Women which was formed in 1924.
