Our annual awards programme recognises individuals who have made significant contributions within WES and the wider engineering community.

For decades WES has celebrated excellence in engineering.

The WES Awards honour those whose achievements inspire the profession and elevate the visibility of women in engineering.

Professional Engineering Institutions (PEIs) are encouraged to nominate their candidates during summer 2026.

The WES Awards bring together a range of honours recognising professional achievement, technical excellence and contribution across engineering, applied science & technology, including awards for Chartered Engineers, Incorporated Engineers, Engineering Technicians, allies and long-standing contributors to the profession.

Nominations open annually ahead of the Caroline Haslett Lecture and Awards Ceremony in December, where finalists and winners from across the engineering community are recognised by WES.

    Awarded to a woman engineer who demonstrates excellence and future potential in engineering, alongside a commitment to promoting the profession and Incorporated Engineer status.

    Recognising the best newly Chartered woman engineer for excellence in engineering, applied science or IT, alongside outstanding potential and contribution to the profession.

    Awarded to any individual who has made an exceptional contribution to improving diversity in engineering and inspiring more women to enter and remain in the profession.

  • Awarded to individuals who contribute nationally or within their local cluster, recognising their efforts regardless of their career stage or type of involvement.

  • Recognising a man working in engineering, technical or applied science roles who has shown exceptional commitment to supporting women and improving gender balance across the profession.

  • The Isabel Hardwich Medal is awarded to a WES Member who has made an outstanding and sustained contribution to the Women’s Engineering Society over a number of years and has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
