This award recognises an outstanding woman who has registered as an Incorporated Engineer (lEng) with the Engineering Council, and is nominated by their Professional Engineering Institution.

The winner will demonstrate professional excellence, contribution to their organisation and the wider engineering community, and the potential to be a future leader in engineering.


Eligibility & Application Criteria

  • Each Institution may nominate one female newly Incorporated Engineer.

  • The candidate must have been incorporated between 1 March 2025 and 29 February 2026.

  • The candidate must be a UK resident. Candidates temporarily working outside of the UK will be deemed eligible only if their contract is under six months in duration, or if they are a serving member of the armed forces.

  • Candidates can only be nominated once

  • Caroline Nicholls

    Senior Engineer at Laing O’Rourke and a newly incorporated member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Caroline has worked on several prestigious projects early in her career, including Thames Tideway in London and the Oxford Ellison Institute of Technology.

  • Lucy Davies

    Lucy is a Technical Manager in Sustainable Air Platforms at BAE Systems. She joined the BAE Systems Graduate Scheme after graduating from Loughborough University in 2021, gained Incorporated Engineer status with the Royal Aeronautical Society in 2023, and sits on its Women in Aviation, Aerospace and Space Committee.
