AMAZON RME and WES Apprentice Day

Our in-person apprentice event on 12th February at Dunstable brought together the next generation of engineering talent for a day of learning, connection, and celebration.

Attendees walked through Amazon’s Robotics Fulfilment Centre (LTN4) with a professional tour guide, following the journey of a package through sortation, labelling, and quality control, and meeting the army of friendly robots using advanced technology to dispatch items ready for delivery. There was also a rare opportunity to visit Amazon’s Make on Demand facility, one of only two in the UK. The engineering team demonstrated how Amazon prints its own books, T-shirts, and other personalised merchandise. Attendees also supervised the printing of their own souvenir to take home.

The day celebrated, developed, and connected the next wave of engineering talent. Huge thanks to Emma Swinscoe, Laura Hughes, and Kristine Hammond for shaping the programme, and to Jessica Riggs, Jess, and Maleeha Patel for bringing such honesty and insight to the panel.

We’re also really grateful to Dr Jan Peters MBE and Rose Sargent for leading brilliant sessions on wellbeing and policy. Apprentices left with practical tools they could use right away, and plenty to think about for the future.
