Sarah Haslam
BEng MSc CEng FIMechE

Sarah is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Bristol University with over 30 years of experience in the global automotive industry. She recently retired from Ford Motor Company after a diverse career spanning Quality, Product Development, and Manufacturing, with leadership roles across Europe, Türkiye, and the USA.

Her international assignments included serving as Assistant Vehicle Line Director at Ford Otosan in Istanbul, overseeing five vehicle lines from development through to production, and working in Valencia as Vehicle Manager, driving quality improvements for the Ford Kuga and Transit Connect. She also held senior engineering roles such as Chief Engineer for Features & Software Integration, Chief Program Engineer for Engine Engineering, and Powertrain Integration Manager for Transit programs across multiple regions.

Alongside her technical career, Sarah championed diversity and inclusion as a leader within Women of Ford Europe, delivering initiatives in mentoring, STEM outreach, job‑share awareness, and networking.

Beyond Ford, she is active in the wider engineering community as Trustee of the Women’s Engineering Society and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Engineers and previously was a Trustee of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.  

In 2020, Sarah was awarded an MBE for her services to engineering and her long‑standing commitment to promoting STEM careers for women.

Now retired from Ford, Sarah continues to champion engineering outreach, particularly for female students, and looks forward to expanding her involvement in STEM advocacy as she enters the next phase of her life.
