Sarah Haslam MBE

Graduating from Bristol University with a Mechanical Engineering Degree, Sarah Haslam has over 25 years of experience within the automotive industry and has held many different roles in Quality, Product Development and Manufacturing.

Sarah is currently Chief Engineer, Features and Software Integration for Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe, based at Dunton Campus.

Prior roles include:

Chief Program Engineer , Engine Engineering, Ford of Europe
3-year international assignment in Valencia, Spain where she held a manufacturing management role responsible for quality improvement of Ford Kuga and Transit Connect.
Powertrain Integration Manager – responsible for powertrain development for Transit vehicles in NA and EU
In addition to her Chief Engineer role, Sarah is also a Champion for the Women of Ford group in Europe, leading the Employer of Choice workstream. Key initiatives include Mentoring, STEM Outreach, Job Share Awareness and Networking events.

Outside of work, Sarah has been a member for the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) since 2020, and is an active member in both the Partners and Communications Directors’ Committees.

She has been a Trustee for the Institution of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE) with key role of Deputy Chair of the International Strategy Board. Additionally, she was Secretary of her local automotive division committee and has led various STEM related projects for young people.

Sarah was recently awarded an MBE (June 2020) for her services to Engineering and to the promotion of STEM careers for women.

She is passionate about encouraging students and particularly females, to consider a career in engineering and through her employer, IMechE and WES has been able to support many events and initiatives over the last 22 years.
