Jennifer graduated from Loughborough University in 2018 with a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering and a Diploma in Industrial Studies. During her degree she completed a placement year at ITP Aero working in both jet engine design and certification. Currently Jennifer is a PhD student at Loughborough University researching jet engine noise cancellation through metamaterial acoustic liners.

Jennifer is an active member of Women’s Engineering Society where she chaired the inaugural University Groups Board 2018/19; and iscurrently member of the Membership and Communications Directors’ Committees and the Student Groups Liaison Officer. She is passionate about promoting careers in STEM to all especially those with neurodiversity like her. (Autism, Dyslexia and Meares-Irlen Syndrome).

Outside of WES Jennifer is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and a Student member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and Institute of Acoustics. Jennifer has been a STEM ambassador since 2016 working hard to inspire more young people into engineering speaking to hundreds of students from primary to sixth form, as well as featuring on local BBC radio highlighting the work of both STEM ambassadors and WES.

Why join the council?

I wanted to join the council to continue my representation of the student groups, neurodiverse and early career people at WES. I believe this is important to have all members represented at the highest level of any society so we can learn from the largest variety of experience and background. I hope to not just put forward issues but offer solutions and then feedback to improve the student groups. For my own development a role of the council will challenge me to become an effective WES member; increase my understanding of society working and my communication skills which will benefit me in my role as Student Groups Liaison Officer.
