The WES Student Conference takes place every year at the end of November and is a two-day residential conference aimed primarily at female engineering and allied undergraduates. It supports young women to progress in engineering and allied sectors buy providing access to employer perspectives, development opportunities and networking. It is an annual two-day event bringing together students, academics and early-mid career engineers and colleagues from supporting industry to explore pathways to technical leadership.
The Student Conference includes both technical and personal/professional development and opportunities to meet employers and sponsors. There are a large number of interactive sessions and also panels to include wider set of engineer speakers from a broad range of backgrounds.
In 2017 the conference was held on 24-25 November at Aston University in Birmingham, it brought together over 130 students, and sponsors included Amazon, BAE Systems, Cirrus Logic, Dialog Semiconductor and P&G.
- Feedback from the conference is extremely positive yearly
- In 2017 100% of the students who completed the survey enjoyed speaking with sponsors and wanted to have further contact post-conference
- 86% of last year’s students said that they were more inspired by the range of career options than before attending.
