With great sadness WES recently heard of the death of our Patron Sir Robert Malpas who passed away on 18 June 2023.

Sir Robert was a Patron of the Women’s Engineering Society for 40 years and we are hugely thankful for his dedicated service and all that he contributed during that time. It was an honour for the Society to be represented by someone as influential within engineering as Sir Robert, and his support for women in the industry was greatly valued. Sir Robert was instrumental in getting government funding for the WISE Campaign which WES hosted in the 1980s and continued as one of our patrons until his death.
