We are looking for a Wind Resource and Energy Yield Engineer to support our growing portfolio of offshore wind projects.


Job Description:

Key Accountabilities

  • Leading on internal wind resource and energy yield processes, tool and procedures.  Feeding into the wider Offshore Engineering design process and documentation.

  • Supporting Business Development, M&A and joint venture activities, by reviewing appropriate 3rd party reports, scoping additional works where required, identifying risks, and making adjustments to production estimates for valuation purposes.

  • Shortlisting of suitable wind turbine models, along with other member of the Offshore Engineering team, to inform on layout design and optimisation.  Estimating project capacity and optimizing wind farm layouts.

  • Defining, designing and leading on appropriate meteorological measurement campaigns.

  • Supervising and coordinating works with technical contractors who are supporting our wind and site assessment activities in different markets.

  • Carrying out statistical analysis and processing/screening of wind data. Performing and/or supervising wind resource and energy yield analysis to support the growing offshore wind portfolio. 

  • Supporting the wind turbine and floater selection activities, including the revision of the technical/commercial documents related to the Turbine Supply Agreement and the Service and Maintenance Agreement, such as power curve warranties, power curve performance test and wind farm availability.

  • Providing relevant input into technical risk registers.

  • Representing the company externally on appropriate industry groups and at conferences.

  • Looking for innovative ways in which additional value can be added to the portfolio.


Required Education and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM+F (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)

  • 5+ year of professional experience with an offshore wind developer, technical consultancy, WTG OEM, or similar.

  • Experience in conducting pre-construction offshore wind resource and energy yield assessments with a strong understanding of all the main stages of such an assessment, including, wind flow and wake modelling, loss factors and uncertainty.

  • Experience with floating LiDAR and wind met mast measurement devices


Required Knowledge & Hard Skills

  • Knowledge of industry standards in regard to wind resource and offshore wind engineering.

  • Advanced skills with spreadsheets, charts, and presentations.  Coding skills are seen as advantageous.

  • Exceptional written communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex technical subjects to a variety of audiences.
