WES Young Members Board is recruiting two new members! You will join an enthusiastic team of early career engineers working on projects including #LottieTour and the design of a new poster to promote engineering to school girls. There is scope to get involved in existing projects or to set up your own!

WES Young Members Board was established in June 2016. The WES YMB consists of twelve women in their early career, who are working, training or studying in an engineering field. The aim of the YMB is to make WES more accessible to younger members, to reflect their concerns and priorities and provide input to the WES Council, allowing the voices of younger women engineers to be heard. The women making up the YMB will also act as role models for young women considering engineering and applied science. The YMB will enable younger WES members to influence the direction of travel of WES, with the opportunity for personal, professional and leadership development through board experience and involvement in projects and strategy setting.

It is expected that members attend 4 meetings per year and are able to volunteer time to work on projects in between meetings. They should have the support of their employer or university for time off to attend meetings, and financial support for travel.  This opportunity is open to anyone who defines themselves as “young” in the context of their engineering career.
