Applications are invited for a University Assistant/Associate Professor in Water Engineering and Sustainable Development. The successful candidate will join the Environment Group in the Engineering Department’s Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Division.
We are seeking applicants who already have, or are building, an excellent track record in research areas related to water engineering in the context of international development. The Department’s current research portfolio in the area covers Hydrology, Water Transport, Sediment Flows and the interaction of Water with other Engineering Systems. The post holder will be expected to develop a world-leading research program compatible with the department’s international profile, to develop meaningful impact with appropriate external partners and to attract funding to support research. We anticipate that applicants could come from across a broad spectrum of research interests in Water Engineering and Sustainable Development compatible with the required teaching contribution.
The successful candidate will be expected to make a major contribution to the teaching and supervision of the MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development, as well as a contribution to the Water Engineering and Sustainability topics of the undergraduate MEng degree. Candidates willing to lead and expand teaching in the areas of hydrology, water treatment, water quality, drainage, wastewater treatment, sustainable water engineering, stormwater, river hydraulics, real time control, WASH systems, hydroinformatics, and international development are particularly welcome. Currently, the department offers modules in Sustainable Engineering, Water Engineering, and Management of Resilient Water Systems in the undergraduate MEng degree, and in International Development in the MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development. The appointee will initially contribute to teaching in these areas and will make a substantial contribution in the supervision of MPhil dissertations.
