Role Profile

 

Role Title: Summer Associate

Reports to: Private Equity with sector focus in Energy & Infrastructure Operations

Location(s): London

 

Purpose of Role

The Summer Intern role involves working as a member of the Operations Team, applying research, analysis and  technical advisory skills to assist in the evaluation of the technical risk profile and performance characteristics, of both development and operational Power assets. The successful candidate will work within the Operations team providing both Due Diligence and Asset Management support to Investment Professionals in executing and managing transactions.

This will encompass gaining exposure to the different phases of the investment life cycle, focused on the active management of technical risk.

During the 8-12 week (depending on availability) placement, you will spend one week in an induction program to learn more about Actis and the firm’s core values. You will meet and network with Partners as well as other senior management and fellow Summer Interns.

Main Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive)

    • Scoping and analysis of the technical aspects of a potential transaction
    • Supporting prospective and live transaction process including, due diligence and Investment Committee preparation
    • Supporting the preparation of an investment opportunity analysis
    • Supporting on a transaction due diligence process and engagement with third party advisor(s)
    • Support existing portfolio companies through construction and operational reviews and Technical Sub-committees

Skills/Competencies for Actis Associates

    • Strong technical skills, including direct experience of at least one of utility scale power assets.
    • Proactive, self-starter; ability to conduct detailed technical analysis with limited supervision
    • Highly organised and focused
    • Project management and ability to drive initiatives through to completion
    • Excellent research, writing and communication skills
    • Collaborate effectively with others, including senior managers and external parties
    • High personal impact with an ability to influence others in a positive way

Knowledge

    • Knowledge of, and experience in our markets
    • Strong technical skills, including direct experience of at least one of utility scale power assets.
    • Understanding of the financial and risk drivers of Power assets
    • Working familiarity of EPC and/or O&M contracts
    • Summer interns are expected to be internationally oriented as they will work with colleagues from our various offices. Having diverse language skills beyond the local office is a plus
