We’re now looking to expand our global team and recruit an Electrical Design Engineer.

Role Description – Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Role Purpose:

Reporting into the Director, UK and Other Sectors, you will be responsible for Electrical Engineering design from concept through to construction, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed client requirements, budgets, profit margins, quality standards etc.

This role requires a high level of professional engagement with our Clients, external Partners (eg Architects, Suppliers etc) and internal colleagues who form part of the PPa project delivery team. UK and International travel will be required as needed.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Leadership:

  • Leads team in the development, design, and delivery of engineering projects/services to agreed client requirements, budgets, profit margins, quality standards etc
  • Gets proactively involved in project design and delivery
  • Ensures projects are appropriately resourced, identifying and securing the changes needed in advance of it becoming a project delivery issue
  • Ensures data on ‘Float’ is up to date and time is being accurately recorded for the project, flagging  issues to the SLT as needed
  • Coaches less experienced members of the team

Technical/Project Management:

  • Leads and delivers electrical design, construction and installation projects
  • Carries out cost and profit diagnosis on projects including feasibility studies and preparation of project fee proposals
  • Works closely with clients and project team to establish project requirements
  • Reviews status advised by project personnel and external parties and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares project reports for Management, Client or others.
  • Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractor teams
  • Carries out engineering reviews to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
  • Supports clients in tender and procurement of MEP contractors and MEP equipment
  • Leads on the coordination of engineering services, together with hands on delivery of concept and details designs
  • Ensures risk and performance monitoring analysis takes place through effective systems of internal control and delegation
  • Ensures project delivery from a Project Management, Contract management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective

Business Development:

  • Builds long term relationships with existing clients to ensure we are considered for their future projects
  • Networks and builds relationships with potential new clients as required, resulting in the winning of new projects

Prior Experience, Skills, Knowledge required

  • A Chartered Engineer, with a BSc/BEng in a relevant electrical engineering discipline
  • MCIBSE/MIEE or HND/HNC + appropriate experience or equivalent
  • Significant experience of specification design for a range of building types including residential, commercial, education etc
  • Have at least 5+ years’ experience as a consulting engineer
  • Already operating at a minimum Engineer level or equivalent and capable of operating at Senior Engineer level
  • Experienced at confidently representing other engineering services disciplines in client meetings
  • Sound knowledge & working application of key health and safety issues/legislation
  • Appreciation & working knowledge of contract and business law
  • Experience in chairing and facilitating project team meetings
