Develop new products from concept to production using the Crane New Product Development (NPD) process.
Plan and execute design activities with a focus on safety, quality, cost and timing.
Understand and apply relevant industry standards to ensure products comply or exceed all requirements.
Drive continuous improvement within the engineering and test department.
The successful candidate will be a motivated Senior Design Engineer with experience in the Utilities (Water and Gas) industry looking for their next career move. They will have a high level of experience in 3D design and engineering drawings and be highly proficient in use of CAE tools: 3D CAD (Creo), PDM (Windchill), FEA (Ansys) and CFD.
Ideal applicants will have:
Degree in mechanical engineering (or similar).
Previous experience of supervising or developing a small team
Water industry or pipeline experience. Consideration will be given to candidates with experience in Gas or other related industrial sectors.
Track record of coaching and leading a mechanical engineering team to deliver NPD projects.
Experience of managing engineering teams and willing to be “hands-on”.
Good understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R.
Understanding of material properties and methods of production used in pipe connection applications (e.g. casting, fabrication, welding, machining, injection moulding, compression moulding).
Knowledge of both tollgate and agile project management.
