Project & Programme Management Consultant

Location: Southern England

About the opportunity
Due to expansion in our business, Nova Systems International has an exciting opportunity for a Portfolio, Programme, Project (P3M) Professional to join their consulting team, working on site with clients both in the UK and Northern Europe, but with an initial focus on the South of England.
The successful candidate will be confident working on client sites, participating in programme/project management and business transformation, alongside broader aerospace and defence consulting activities. We’re looking for somebody who has recent experience of managing and supporting projects and programmes in the UK defence & aerospace sector, in particular within the Ministry of Defence, operating in P3M leadership, management and delivery.

What you’ll actually do 

You’ll be involved in many aspects of P3M and consultant activities, with particular responsibilities in;

  • Delivering P3M using accepted methodologies, but also providing value through a flexible approach
  • Leadership and direction of P3M delivery
  • Delivering outcome-focussed projects and programmes using various management techniques in Organisational Governance, Benefits, RAIDO, Stakeholders & Comms, Management Information & Reporting, Finance, and Resources
  • Development of Investment Decision Business Cases at all stages of the Project/Programme Lifecycle
  • Managing multiple stakeholders and customers on complex issues including the delivery of strategy or large-scale change

What you’ll need

  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Current UK Security Clearance, or the ability to achieve one
  • At least 3 years of experience working in P3M delivery
  • Industry or government experience in Defence, Aerospace, Engineering or a similar sector
  • At least one of the following qualifications: APMPQ, Prince 2, Certificate or Diploma in Project and Programme Management (DPPM), Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), Management of Portfolios (MoP), or equivalent experience in this area
  • Ability to work with a wide range of people
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise workloads
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Ideally degree qualified with relevant consultant and/or industry experience

  • Comfortable and influential in client communication and management
  • Flexible, positive and committed team member, who works to very high standards and cares about client interests, and Nova’s and own professional reputation
  • Commercially minded with a desire to spot opportunities to improve the business and its offering to clients
  • Have strong data analysis, interpretation and presentational skills
  • Willingness to travel
