The Role

As a Product Safety Manager, you will be working across the range of product programmes. You will be required to support and provide advice to the projects’ Technical Authorities including the generation of safety deliverables required for products and services. This role will also offer you the chance to work with a wide range of new and existing products in support of the UK MoD.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all the organisation’s products and services comply with the necessary legislative and business safety requirements, and for the leadership of your team who will be carrying out various activities to ensure that customer expectations are met in terms of achieving safety requirements against agreed milestones.

You and your team will be working in a proactive role, liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority, such as Project Safety & Environmental planning and management; writing in-depth Safety Engineering appraisals and reports, including plans and Safety Case reports.
Undertaking a range of techniques for conducting Hazard Identification, Analysis Risk Assessment and Functional Analysis, and working with customers to ensure products and services meet safety and environmental requirements.

The Person

An experienced and ambitious Product Safety Manager, with a sound engineering background, you will have developed your experience within the defence equipment engineering sector, or related engineering environments that interact with the MoD and UK Government. This could include the nuclear, rail, and aerospace / aviation markets.

A strong leader, with a degree or equivalent qualification within a relevant engineering discipline, you will ideally be familiar with current UK MoD defence standards, Land Safety Regulations and OME Safety Regulations – with experience and knowledge of Systems Engineering Lifecycles.

A strong communicator at all levels with the ability to confidently articulate technical safety information to a variety of stakeholders, you will have the ability to make sound, informed judgements and the integrity to challenge when necessary.
