What you will do
As Procurement Manager – 3rd Party Materials within the UK&I Field Procurement team you will be supporting a $50M+ materials spend, assisting strategy formulation and implementation, and will drive the execution of all associated 3rd party material spend. You will be responsible for leading the material Buyers team, driving a thorough supplier review, managing supplier performance and commercial negotiation to enhance bottom line growth, ensuring lowest total cost of ownership and delivery of cost savings with competitive pricing.
The Procurement Manager will ensure support on multiple project purchases across the UK&I Field business ensuring that materials are acquired at the right price, time and quality, and providing whatever other support is necessary to ensure the business has the products needed to meet end-user customer needs. You will manage a small team of materials Buyers in the fire, security and HVAC categories. Local interaction with business sector leadership and operational project teams is essential in this role to maximize project involvement, margin improvement and internal relationship building. The role also interacts with the EMEA & Global Sourcing organisations to ensure aligned initiatives.
How you will do it
The Procurement Manager will manage the procurement strategy and process, develop local UKI category and assist project RFQ to final award including price negotiation, quote analysis and negotiation of robust terms and conditions with Suppliers to minimize JCI’s risk and exposure. Drive the use of E-Procurement to ensure a consistent, transparent and professional approach to sourcing. You will d and deliver materials procurement strategy, including for locally sourced bespoke product range and build / maintain Preferred Supplier List to align with business needs, and manage associated compliance. You will document historical cost data and trend analysis and provide regular reports to management and sales & estimating teams to improve quote accuracy. You will also drive Supplier Performance Management through the employment of Supplier Evaluation, reviews and Continuous Improvement.
A key part of the role will be to establish and maintain effective relationships with Suppliers and internal Customers. Provide thought leadership and act as a Business Partner towards respective business alignment; personally engage in supplier and customer relationship management activities including briefings on progress, escalation management, supplier changes, etc. the Procurement Manger will also manage direct reports to achieve objectives, agree and set SMART goals, ensure regular reviews are established to manage progress, implement actions, ensure positive results, grow, train and develop team.
What we look for
- You will have sound business acumen and agility in working within a matrix and cross-functional environment
- Supplier relationship management; project and program management
- Negotiating and Buying experience essential.
- Familiarity with lean / six sigma techniques. Demonstrated ability to work in a complex, time-sensitive environment and drive structure where and as required.
- Working knowledge of Procurement systems and processes
- Fire / Security / HVAC products and supplier market knowledge desirable.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sourcing, procurement materials management or supply chain management
- CIPS, or studying towards, desirable
