Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Projects, the main responsibilities of the role holder include, but shall not be limited to:

  • Responsible for the Leadership and Management of the PMO Team

  • Responsible for support to the Head of Projects in the management of Cost Centre budgets and plans

  • Responsible for the provision of planning and scheduling services to the Project Managers of all HICSE projects

  • Responsible for the provision of Cost and Schedule reporting services of all HICSE projects

  • Responsible for leading efforts to improve project tracking and monitoring

  • Responsible for coordinating and managing project health check reviews

  • Responsible for working with Commercial and FP&A functions to ensure variation management is conducted coherently

  • Responsible for Project administration functions

  • Responsible for working with all other parts of the business to ensure programmes are delivered to plan

  • Responsible for ensuring quality of deliverables are in line with business governance and customer expectations

  • Responsible for driving continuous improvements to the Projects Department processes in general

  • Responsible for finding practical and pragmatic solutions to address real project and change problems

 

Achieving success in the role will be indicated by managing business operations on tasks such as:

  • Adherence to the HICSE Business Management System (BMS)

  • Supports the development and maintenance of the Project Management processes within the BMS

  • Ensure all projects adhere to Project Management Plans

  • Work with other Cost Centre Leads to ensure lean and timely delivery of project work and business improvements

  • Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly project reporting inputs in line with project and business requirements

  • Development and maintenance of project cost and schedule baselines with the responsible Project Manager

  • Development of project management metrics

  • Development of Resource plans with the Project Managers and Engineering functional leads to ensure project delivery

  • Work with Quality to ensure necessary quality standards and audit requirements are met

  • Ensure correct Document Management & Control is applied across projects

  • Support the projects in Risk & Opportunity Management

  • Ensure Change Control is applied consistency and coherently on projects

  • Line Management of PMO staff

  • Support to Head of Projects and Project Managers as required

Key Skills and Experience

APM or IPMA qualified desirable, with demonstrable competency experience against APM Project Management Qualification criteria, or IPMA Level C (Project Management Associate) or above

  • Experience of leading teams across dispersed sites
