STEM Returners is searching for an experienced Software Developer to join Digital Barriers on a part time basis. This opportunity is ideal for someone who has taken a career break and is looking to return.

Overview of Role
Digital Barriers have a unique and exciting opportunity for experienced Senior Software Engineers to join our expanding, ambitious Platform Team of talented developers. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of technical skills, a positive attitude and interpersonal skills. This is a flexible, part-time position that will report into the Technical Team Lead, based in Glasgow. You will work with a growing team of engineers including DevOps specialists and Build & Release managers and deliver scalable products to both our Niche and Channel customers.
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, multi-tasker, and demonstrated team-player. You will be a senior developer responsible for the development of new software products and enhancements to existing products. Including transitioning our existing self-hosted platform into a more cloud native, scalable solution and expanding its capabilities to support a wide variety of customers across the globe. You should excel in working with large-scale applications and frameworks and have outstanding communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop software to support distribution and management of our IP Video solution
• Delivery of software on time and to specification
• Undertake unit and system testing on your work
• Work with QA Team to deliver high quality software
• Collaborate with the rest of the team including conducting code reviews
• Actively contribute to the evolution of the development process
• Actively contribute to a growing engineering department

Essential Requirements:
• You should be degree qualified or have a background in a Computer Science or relevant engineering discipline with significant experience working as a software developer.
• You are comfortable working as part of an Agile team, in a collaborative environment where sharing of ideas and working together is encouraged.

We are also recruiting other roles and would be prepared to consider different tech stack skills.

Compensation & Hours
Salary will depend on your experience and can be discussed during the interview. We are looking for a minimum of 15 hours per week and are flexible on days and hours worked, this can be arranged on an individual basis. Additionally, there is the opportunity to increase hours above 15 hours per week to any level up to a near full time arrangement.
