The National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO) is looking for two independent, part-time, non-executive Directors to join the NCEO Management Board (NCEO-MB).
The NCEO is an internationally leading, distributed research centre with over 100 scientists from UK institutions, led by Professor John Remedios (University of Leicester). With an annual income of £ 10 million per year, the NCEO provides a national, long-term and strategic national capability in Earth Observation, namely the science of studying the Earth using satellites in space. We are a Research Centre supported by the Natural Environment Research Council, part of United Kingdom Research and Innovation.
The NCEO-MB supports the NCEO Executive Director in the oversight, strategic direction and assurance of the management of NCEO. Functions include development of strategy, scrutiny of NCEO management and performance, accountability to NERC and assurance to the stakeholders that the NCEO is delivering capability and sustainability.
Ideally with experience of managing in a complex organisation, with excellent business or public service insights and an interest in environmental, space or other science sectors, you should be able to demonstrate that you have the skills, interests and experience to help NCEO grow its capability, reputation and portfolio. The Non-Executive Directors will provide a new dimension to the NCEO-MB, bringing thoughtful insight, knowledge of key sectors, experience of organisational best practice, and networking capabilities that enable the NCEO-MB to deliver the NCEO mission.

The successful candidate will be expected to attend their first meeting on 1st October 2021.
