We are looking for a Metocean Engineer!

The Metocean Engineer will be part of the Offshore Engineering team and is responsible for the supporting our growing portfolio of offshore wind projects. This includes floating offshore wind and integration with other technologies where appropriate and covers projects across multiple countries.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading on metocean analysis, managing external parties and relationships and feeding into the wider Offshore Engineering design process and documentation, with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.

This role covers the entire project development and construction, from concept design through to installation and commissioning of assets.


Job Description:

Main responsibilities

  • Defining, designing and leading on appropriate metocean measurement campaigns

  • Working with the procurement team and providing support during scouting, tendering and negotiation activities

  • Scoping, specifying and negotiating external technical/engineering consultancy agreements and construction contracts, identifying and mitigating interface gaps

  • Supervising and coordinating works with technical contractors who are supporting our metocean activities in different markets

  • Carrying out metocean analysis and processing/screening of metocean data (e.g. key metocean parameters for design, logistics, construction and installation and operational activities). This includes conducting weather modelling studies for estimating the accessibility and availability of the wind farm

  • Participating in metocean due diligence and monitoring the work done by advisors during any relevant processes


Required skills & experience

  • 5+ year of relevant professional experience with an offshore wind developer, technical consultancy, or similar

  • Experience in conducting metocean assessments across the project lifecycle, including weather window analysis, input into design basis documents

  • Experience with metocean monitoring equipment

  • Knowledge of industry standards in regard to metocean assessment and offshore wind engineering

  • Detailed knowledge of metocean conditions for application in an offshore wind environment at the various stages of project lifecycle

  • Advanced skills with spreadsheets, charts, and presentations (Microsoft Office, etc)

  • Innovative approach and good communication and presentation skills

  • Willingness to travel when required, especially within the UK and Europe.
