Working as part of the Shift Manufacturing team, the Manufacturing Technician is instrumental in the day to day efficient operation of machinery and equipment in their area of responsibility.
Being assigned to specific plant equipment, the Manufacturing Technician will analyse performance trends and lead Continuous Improvement activity to ensure optimum plant efficiency whether it be mechanical, electrical or programming the route cause of the issue. Their strong relationships with their Manufacturing colleagues in the area will ensure that operator equipment concerns are readily addressed and resolved ‘at the point of occurrence’.
1.Lead and participate in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis activities to identify and act on corrective actions to prevent repeat failures.
2.Complete planned and reactive maintenance tasks and improvement work with designated area.
3.Have advanced knowledge of equipment for the area and how to operate these as per Standard Work Methods and Best Operating Practice.
4.To record and interpret machinery efficiencies relating to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost, and provide immediate corrective actions for both the short term and longer term preventative measures
5.To liaise with area Planner to ensure that planned maintenance activity is planned accordingly and with mind for bettering area performance (for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost), and assist in the delivery of this as required.
6.Be observant at all times when in the plant and report any deficiencies that cannot be rectified by you to your Line Manager and Area Engineer.
7.Work in liaison with your Line Manager and other departments as required, providing support and assistance where possible to ensure the smooth execution of both day-to-day maintenance tasks and shutdown work
8.Enter accurate, detailed feedback on all completed tasks into SAP on a daily basis.
9.Ensure effective, timely and accurate Management Information is provided as required.
10.Ensure the upkeep and reliability of all plant and equipment in your designated area by feeding back requirements to the Area Engineer
11. Ensure that the area is maintained to 5s, Health & Safety and Hygiene standards at all times
Required Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
Maintaining Industrial Plant and Equipment within FMCG
Minimum of 12 months practical application of PLC learning and practice
Leading continuous improvement activityNVQ 3 / BTEC 3 in related Engineering discipline
Time served apprenticeship
HNC or equivalent
PLC modules 1 and 2
Knowledge of SCADA or similar systems
Control logic fault finding
Excellent computer skills – SAP. EXCEL, WORD, OUTLOOK
Team player and ability to ‘bring people along with you’
Ability to work under pressure and at speed
Organisation and prioritisation skills
Ability to write and install programmes
