Are you seeking an academic appointment in bioengineering in a department which is leading the bioengineering agenda both nationally and internationally? If so, then this exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunity may be the next career step for you.

Due to rapid growth and the strategic importance of the discipline of bioengineering at Imperial, the major new translational White City Campus and the flagship Sir Michael Uren Hub, the Department of Bioengineering wishes to appoint up to four outstanding academics at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader or Professorial level. We invite applications from candidates across all areas of bioengineering, highlighting some specific areas earmarked for growth:

  • Biomechanics/Mechanobiology
  • AI for health
  • Medical imaging
  • Soft Robotics

  • Biomedical Engineering (developing devices, techniques and interventions for human health)
  • Biological Engineering (solving problems related to the life sciences and their applications for health)
  • Biomimetics (using the structures and functions of living organisms as models for the design and engineering of materials and machines).

In the most recent national research assessment, 95% of the Department's returned research was judged either world leading or internationally excellent and in the National Student Survey (2020) we achieved 82% overall student satisfaction. We are committed to building on this success through the recruitment of talented academic staff.
