The Engineering Council is the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession, which sets and maintains the internationally recognised standards of professional competence and ethics, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Committee and Support Executive to provide administrative support for the Engineering Council’s building safety programme.

Reporting to the Head of Professional Standards, the post holder will also work with Project Manager, other colleagues and external stakeholders to manage the day to day running of the project. This includes, but is not limited to,
providing administrative support for the Contextualised Registration project including co-ordinating inputs to management reports and communications, preparing agendas, co-ordinating and supporting the production of papers, attending and drafting the minutes of committee, panel, working group or project meetings as required.

The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including good presentation skills, is able to produce readable, factual reports and accurate minutes. You will need to be comfortable communicating with people at all levels within and external to the Engineering Council, both face-to-face and virtually, and to travel as needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for:

  • Providing administrative support for the Contextualised Registration project including co-ordinating inputs to management reports and communications
  • Preparing agendas, co-ordinate and support the production of papers, attend, and draft the minutes of committee, panel, working group or project meetings as required.
  • Providing logistical support for meetings, seminars, and events, including processing expense claims and invoices    
  • Preparing meeting folders and provide document support                                        
  • Maintaining project documents and document libraries to include risk and issues logs and project reports
  • Supporting the administration of Engineering Council databases as required
  • Supporting the development and building of relationships with external stakeholders as required

Other duties include:

  • Respond to routine external enquiries
  • Providing cover for colleagues as and when required
  • Participating in other duties/activities as reasonably required, including projects, where directed
  • Providing copywriting and proof reading for marketing and communications materials to include website content as required

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including good presentation skills
  • Able to produce readable, factual reports and accurate minutes
  • Strong IT skills, particularly MS Office
  • Experience of organising meetings
  • Experience of minute-taking, proof reading and copy editing
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload and seek guidance where priorities conflict
