The Nation’s Forests are the largest single landholding in the country with over 1,500 separate locations including a wide range of forest and open land, housing, commercial property and a variety or recreation and leisure businesses.
Yorkshire Forest District team comprises 62 members of a multi-disciplinary team who are responsible for managing the Forestry England estate across the region. The District forests cover 21,500ha, most of which is in protected landscapes with 19,000ha in the North York Moors National Park and 590ha in the Howardian Hills AONB.
The Civil Engineering Team for Yorkshire Forest District currently consists of the District Civil Engineer, a Civil Engineer and a Civil Engineering Supervisor, who support all the districts functions to advise and deliver on all civil engineering matters. There is support from the National Head of Civil Engineering and his team. Yorkshire Forest District has approximately 500km of road network, 55 bridges and 10 dams, along with over 75km of cycle trail and footpaths and various art installations.
