A creative writing workshop led by Hannah Stone exploring the hidden history of women in engineering FREE
This creative writing workshop at the historic Armley Mills in Leeds offers participants the chance to engage with the stories of the extraordinary women who have been involved in engineering since the Victorian era.
On entering their 1901 building you can experience Lloyd’s Register’s heritage brought to life through costumed characters, finds from our archive, an interactive exhibition ‘From Coffee to Seaweed’, and try being a virtual reality ship surveyor!
Wentworth Woodhouse: Women in Engineering

The evening will include a presentation which will be given by Dr Anne Nortcliffe SFHEA MInstMC, Founding Head of School of Engineering, Technology and Design at Canterbury Christ Church University and a member of the Women’s Engineering Society.
There will also be a selection of wellbeing activities provided by Lisa-Kay’s Beauty Box, therapeutic treatments given by qualified therapists.
Cost of the event is £15.00 per ticket. This includes 1 x 20-minute treatment, refreshments and an inspirational talk.
The European regional network of the International Network of Women Engineers & Scientists (INWES) are celebrating a centenary of Women in Engineering! An event kindly organised by Scottish Engineering and INWES member volunteers; hosted by Heriot-Watt University; supported by EquateScotland; the Women in Technology Initiative at the University of California, Berkeley; Leonardo; ID Rethinking Waste Initiative; with the participation of the European Platform of Women Scientists (EPWS).
The One Hundredth Annual General Meeting of the Women's Engineering Society will be held at the Copthorne Hotel, Paradise Circus, Paradise Place, Birmingham B3 3HJ on Saturday 19 October 2019 at 14:00 hrs.
