Sophia recently graduated from a PhD at Loughborough University from the Design School and Material Engineering Department. She obtained her BSc and MSc from Drexel University in the USA in Biomedical & Mechanical engineering respectively. Her research interests are in medical devices - implants and prosthetics. She has worked both in Industry with Globus Medical in making spinal implants and in academia where she was teaching undergrad Biomedical engineering modules. She founded the STEM Inspires – a social media platform that aims to inspire, educate and purpose with a bias towards engineering which she will talk about in addition to sharing insights of her career so far and why she felt the need to create STEM Inspires
