Newcastle University is a world-leading university, advancing knowledge, providing creative solutions and solving global problems to make a positive impact on individuals, to organisations and to society as a whole. The School of Engineering is part of this, comprising of five key disciplines; Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Technology and Mechanical Engineering. We tackle global challenges such as climate change, sustainable energy, transport, water supply and waste management. Our research is enabled by world-class laboratories, facilities and we have strong links with industry partners including Siemens and Dyson. From research-led teaching to experiential learning, the student experience is varied, interactive, challenging and rewarding. In addition to our undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Newcastle, engineering is the mainstay of the University’s campus in Singapore.

We are proud to be a WES education partner to support our commitment to women in engineering. We have a thriving community of students and staff, both academics and those in professional services, who help each other become the best that they can be. The women’s engineering society connects us to others in the higher education sector, as well as companies, big and small. This is an outstanding means of sharing our good practice, and learning from our partners. It is a means by which we can support the cause of women in engineering and participate in a wider network of like-minded friends. The School of Engineering holds a Bronze Athena SWAN award, and Newcastle University holds Silver. So, we are doing well but we can still do better, and we expect that our membership of WES will help us on our journey.
