Kiana Kamalian is an apprentice engineer at Carlsberg UK, where she is one of only two female
engineers. However, she has taken many routes and fields to get where she is, she has always
known that her future career will involve engineering, thanks to the influence of her engineer
parents.
Kiana’s passion for the beer industry, however, started when she worked at Brewdog Milton
Keynes bar as a bartender, progressed to Keyholder and received her qualification as Certified
Beer Server. While she was working for Brew dog she also studied HNC, Level 4, of engineering
at Milton Keynes College, where she came across and started her apprenticeship halfway through
the course.
Since Kiana took an academic route, she is now doing her apprenticeship (Level 2/3) to improve
her practical skills.
With the encouragement of her tutors, she is now undertaking another course as well as her
apprenticeship which is, HND, level 5, of engineering at Milton Keynes College.
Being one of the few female engineers in her college and place of work, Kiana wants to
encourage many other girls from all ages and backgrounds to pursue a career in STEM subjects
