WES at Heritage Open Days 2023

Heritage Open Days is an annual festival taking place in September every year. Every September thousands of volunteers across England organise events to celebrate our fantastic history and culture. It's your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore.

WES will be running a series of events throughout the week. See below for the topics.

    • Women in Lighting
      Online  9th Sept 11-12

Join the Women’s Engineering Society as they celebrate Heritage Open Days and shine a spotlight on the history of women in the history of the lighting industry. Presented by Helen Close, WES Heritage Manager and Amanda Reece, Senior Lighting Professional.

This session delivered by independent historian Sarah Yates will look at the 1930’s modern home and the advent of electricity in the domestic sphere.
