Nominations for Vacancies on the Board of Trustees are Now Open

Notice has been given on the 20 August 2021, that Nominations for the Election of Four Directors of WES are now open.
Nominations must be received by the Company Secretary on or before the 11 September 2021.

Who can stand for election?

Any Member or Fellow or Associate equivalent who has paid all their subscriptions on or before the 11 September 2021 may stand for election. If your Membership is paid for by a Partner organisation, a Returner organisation, or is a gift because you won an award, you may stand for election. 

What are the vacancies available?

There are three vacancies for Board Directors to serve from the AGM on the 23 October 2021 to the AGM in October 2024.
There is one vacancy for a Board Director to serve from the AGM on the 23 October 2021 to the AGM in October 2023.

How do candidates get nominated?

Candidates must complete and sign the Nomination Form, and have it signed by three Members, Fellows or Associate equivalents who have paid all their subscriptions on or before the 11 September 2021. Membership subscriptions will be checked. You can check your Membership by emailing membership@wes.org.uk 

WES has taken precautions during the pandemic to ensure the safety of the staff and the Members. As a result, the WES Office is closed, and the staff are working from home. Therefore Nomination forms may be completed electronically by nominators and candidates – either by electronic signature, or by printing out the form, signing it, scanning it and sending it to the candidate or to the next nominator. Completed forms should be either emailed to the Company Secretary at ceo@wes.org.uk, or sent by post to “The Company Secretary, Women’s Engineering Society, 4 Station Road, Ely, CB7 4BS” on or before 23:59 on 11 September 2021.

Elections

If more than four candidates are nominated, an election will be held by electronic ballot of all WES Members beginning on the 1 October 2021 and closing on 16 October 2021. The top three candidates will be elected to the three-year terms, the fourth candidate will be elected to the two-year term.

If only four candidates are nominated, lots will be drawn to determine how long each candidate will serve. If fewer than four candidates are nominated, they will all be elected for three-year terms and any vacancies will be co-opted by the Board at its first meeting following the AGM.
