Sarah M C Peers BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD

Sarah's background is in mathematics and academia. After an MSc in Applied and Discrete Maths, she was appointed a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at University College London. Her research focus was decision support systems for reliability-based maintenance of offshore platforms.

After a move to Cumbria in 2003, she taught maths and artificial intelligence to HND and BEng Industrial Systems engineering students at Carlisle FE College for a few years. Since working in a quality management SME in Cumbria providing support and IT technical advice, she has now moved back into STEM promotion.  Sarah is currently at the New Engineering Foundation (www.neweng.org.uk), an independent organisation that supports the development of education and training for practical and vocational STEM education and training to provide technical skills relevant to industry.  She manages programmes to provide CPD opportunities in industry for FE lecturers and is leading a quality assurance scheme for colleges.

Sarah no longer does anything interesting in her spare time, as this is all taken up by an energetic son, an unruly garden and giving plenty of unrequested advice on the continuing renovation of an old modernist house.
