Francesca is an engineer currently studying towards a PhD in Healthcare Engineering at UCL. After graduating in Aeronautical Engineering in 2014 at Imperial College London, she developed an interest in studying fluid dynamics in biological systems such as the cardiovarscular system. In 2014 she started a Doctoral Training Programme in Healthcare Engineering at UCL sponsored by the Engineering and Physical Research Council. She completed her MRes in Healthcare Engineering in 2015, and is now working on her PhD which involves computer simulations of the cardiovascular system, more specifically building a computational model of blood flow in arterial bypasses. She is enthusiastic about technology and engineering and is part of the STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) network. Through this and the Women Engineering Society she hopes to contribute to inspiring young people in STEM.
