Doris Gray Conference & Conference Attendance

The purpose of the Doris Gray Bursary is to sponsor students to attend WES conferences. In 2008 a decision was made to use the bursary to run a Doris Gray conference to promote the Doris Gray awards, WES and engineering for females. In 2009 the bursary also funded a Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award.

2010-2011 £1,000 funded 4 attendees at the Doris Gray conference

2009-2010 £266 funded 1 attendee at the WES conference

2006-2007 £645 funded 10 attendees at the WES conference

Doris Gray conference in Edinburgh, 14 and 15 November 2009. Students were asked to pay a nominal fee of £40, the additional costs were funded by the Doris Gray Award. Report is in the January 2010 enewsletter.

Young Woman Engineer of the Year Award

In 2009 a new category was added to the Young Women Engineer of the Year Award: Outstanding Scottish Entrant. The prize was funded by the Doris Gray bursary and was given to Elaine Hislop. More details are available on page 7 of the Woman Engineer Journal Volume 18 Number 4 (Summer 2009)
