Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) supports the UK higher education sector to promote equality and diversity for staff and students.
We wish to appoint a part-time (0.6 FTE) Coordinator to coordinate, deliver and continue to develop the Athena SWAN Charter. The Athena SWAN Charter is a recognition scheme for UK universities and their science, engineering and technology (SET) departments. It aims to assist the recruitment, retention and progression of women in SET. The Charter is co-funded and managed by the UK Resource Centre for Women in SET (UKRC) and ECU.
The coordinator's responsibilities will include:
- promoting the Charter and its benefits to higher education institutions;
- organising the annual Charter workshops;
- coordinating the annual Charter awards process and event;
- ensuring the sustainability of the Charter and securing its long-term future;
- coordinating research into Impact and outcomes relating to Athena SWAN.
We are looking for applicants with experience of report writing and project management and a good knowledge of the higher education sector and equality issues. Candidates will be able to work effectively across a range of organisations, have an understanding of the issues that are relevant to women in SET in universities and have experience of awards or quality marking schemes.
