Calendargrads
Calendargrads
calendargrads is brought to you by Isotopes Innovation Ltd, a dynamic not-for-profit company run by young and passionate science and engineering graduates. We believe the Science, Engineering and Technology industries are essential for solving some of the World’s greatest challenges, as well as being vital to the UK’s economy. However, with a SET work force of 5 million in the UK, only 14% are women, meaning there is a huge wealth of talent and innovation that is not being utilized due to this gender imbalance. This problem is highlighted further by the fact that only 30% of female SET graduates actively pursue a career in SET industries.
As recent graduates, calendargrads recognise that it's not always easy knowing what to do with your degree, or even what careers options are available. At launch events calendargrads will focus on answering all the questions that usually go unanswered. Students will be able to talk one-on-one with representatives from industry, and hear from academic institutions and inspirational guest speakers.
Isotopes Innovation Ltd. are extremely keen to gain a wide range of sponsors for both the calendar and campaign, and we offer a range of packages including full page sponsorship, highlighting successful women in their company, their career, interests and company information, through to a simpler company logo. So far it is sponsored by some of the top STEM firms within the industry, including URENCO UK and Rolls-Royce.
calendargrads is in affiliation with both the Women's Engineering Society (WES) and Women into Science and Engineering (WISE). Due to our shared values, calendargrads will be donating all profits from the campaign between these institutions, along with additional donations towards encouraging SET in schools. The donations will help to leave a lasting legacy through bursaries for university students and projects inspiring innovation and creativity within the industry.
Other affiliations and support for the scheme currently include academic institutions including The IET Women's Network, The IMechE, The RSC, IChemE and The IOP. Each affiliation supports the values of calendargrads and is working with the team to widen the impact and reach of the campaign.
If we do not encourage more women to pursue SET careers, we will be denying a huge pool of talent to a vital industry. With the right mix of smart, resourceful, talented women in these careers, our outlook is bright.
Through tailored recruitment events, calendargrads aim to widen the STEM industry’s recruitment talent pool. If you work for a science or engineering company and wish to know more about how you could get involved, or you are a student or recent graduate keen for employment in the sector, please look at our website for further information and details of events: www.calendargrads.co.uk
